Mukthiar Ali represents the 26th generation in a family of Mirasi or traditionally nomadic singers of Rajasthan. He sings a wide range of devotional music, including Kabir, Mira, and Brahmanand, and a range of Sufi (Islamic mystical) poets such as Bulle Shah, Baba Sheikh Farid, Amir Khusro and others.

October 19 Lecture by Ken Bryant, 11-12:20 in UBC Asian Centre Auditorium (will be attended by students in ASIA 258, “Religion in South Asia” class, and open to the public)
